BMT Fluid Mechanics provides a broad range of hydrodynamics services in support of the design and installation of vessels, floating production systems and subsea equipment.

Hydrodynamics sub 2BMT's expertise in this field has been underpinned by the DISH (Deepwater Installation of Subsea Hardware) Joint Industry Research project.

This project, which has been funded by 7 operators, 3 installation/engineering contractors, 8 specialist supply companies and 1 certifying authority has developed technology for the economic installation of subsea hardware in ultra-deep water.

Installation techniques:

  • Ultra deep water installation
  • Dynamic simulation of lowering systems
  • Hydrodynamic model tests
  • CFD analysis of subsea hardware
